Major Onion Recall Expands Yet Again: Another Two Brands To Check

This year’s lower withdrawal has developed once again, this time with a new withdrawal and update for existing withdrawals. Two new advice came from Alsum Farms & Produce Inc. and Potandon Produce LLC. Like some other onions and updates issued in recent months, the reason for this latest notification is potential contamination with Salmonella.

Alsum Farms & Produce Recall

The FDA issued by Alsum Farms & Produce’s Recawation Notification on November 15, reminded the public about potential salmonella contamination that affects several batchs from shallots, yellow and white onions. The product is sold in bags and cartons ranging from £ 2 to 50LBS. All onions, like other similar withdrawals this year, come from Chihuahua, Mexico.

According to the withdrawal notification, advisors only cover onions from companies that include “Mexico production” on the label. Like all the onions that were remembered this year, the results were sourced from Keler’s family farming. Alsum noted that onion was sold last summer, which means they passed the fresh shelf life. However, the withdrawal is still made “a lot of care -heart,” because some consumers may still have onions in their freezers, for example.A complete list of Alsum onion products covered by this warning can be found in withdrawal notifications, including lot codes, product descriptions, and affected packaging sizes.

Potandon Produce Recall

Potandon Produce Recall, meanwhile, was also published on November 15. This is an update for the withdrawal of the previous company onion published at the end of October, adding 3LB and 5LB yellow onion pockets to advisors, as well as 2lb garlic pockets. All of these onions are distributed this summer, too, which means they also pass through fresh shelf life, although some consumers may still have them.

The newly added product is sold under the Green Giant Fresh Brand. This onion is also sourced from Keler’s family agriculture. The company shows that although onions have passed their fresh shelf life, they may have been used as part of food that consumers may still have in their freezers. Refunds are available for customers who want it, but on the contrary, onions must be discarded without eating.

Consumers who might have bought onions can find details of identification in withdrawal notifications. This year brought the Salmonella outbreak which triggered an investigation by the Center for Control and Prevention of Diseases and FDAs. This disease was finally traced to raw onions, including yellow, white and red varieties. On November 12, 2021, according to the FDA, a total of 892 cases related to the plague were identified.

The investigation of the plague continued, but the link to several onions imported from Mexico resulted in withdrawal from Produce Produce and Keler Family Farms, which received onions from Chihuahua, Mexico, and distributed them to other companies.A series of withdrawals produced came from a number of companies that sell all of these onions under their own brand, as well as some food kit shipping services such as Hello Fresh who package onions with some of their food.

The whole onion, unfortunately, is not something that is stored by many consumers with the original packaging, which can be difficult to determine whether someone has a unit that is pulled. FDA said that when hesitant, throwing onions without eaten. Although the product being pulled was distributed last summer, all onions can last up to three months if stored properly, which means some people may still have some of them.
