Butterball, the Corral Bird Company better known for its frozen turkeys, has announced a new retirement of Turkey products about the possible contamination with plastic. The announcement occurs only a few weeks before Thanksgiving, but it should not affect turkey availability for vacations: the problem impacts turkey products on the ground, not whole birds.
According to the removal notice, ground turkey products are being removed due to the possible presence of blue plastic pieces mixed with meat. The problem was discovered after multiple consumer complaints, revealed the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).The withdrawal covers the ground turkey that was sold in 2.5 lb and 3 lb trays, a sold under the name of “Farm to the familiar moon turkey” and the other below “Kroger Ground Turkey”. Both products occurred on September 28, although identification details vary according to the product it bought.
The retired Kroger-Bond Turkey has a “sell or freeze date” of October 17, 2021, as well as 2314 to 2351 brands of time in the packaging. The products also contain the case code 50211272. Meanwhile, the Butterball brand turkey has a “sell or freeze” on October 18, 2021, with time marks from 2123 to 2302 in the packages. In addition, consumers can search for the establishment number “Est. P-7345” in the USDA inspection brand to identify the withdrawal units. As with other retreats, the USDA says that anyone who has these products of Turkey should throw them without eating or returning them to the store from which they were bought for a refund.
